Feeling competitive?

As a cadet you can take part in seven main sports at different levels - athletics, cross country, football, rugby, hockey, netball and swimming . Whatever you do it'll help improve your physical fitness levels and your team skills. If you're good enough at a sport we'll notice, and can help you take it to the next level.

There are frequent inter squadron tournaments, where the best players are selected to represent the wing. The same then happens for the region, with wings competing against each other and the best players making up the regional team. If you make it through each of those selections then you're good. If you're really good, then you could be selected to represent the Air Training Corps at national level or even the entire cadet forces at international level. Former 222 (Boradlands) Sqn member, Cadet Flight Sergeant Andy Walton twice represented the Corps at Rugby.

It's not all hard work though.

Sports make a regular appearance in the sqn training programme, ranging from football and basketball to military circuit training. Every year 222 (Broadlands) Sqn hold the "6 Squadrons" tournament, pitting ourselves against 5 other squadrons from the Wing in Football, Volleyball and Softball. The tournament also includes a BBQ and presentations of trophies and medals.
