Ian joined 222 as a cadet in May 1994 and worked his way through the ranks to Cadet Warrant Officer. During his time as a cadet he travelled overseas to Cyprus , attended a parachute course and was part of the Regional rugby team which won Corps title. Upon commission in September 1999 he moved to 2110 ( North Walsham ) Sqn where he performed both Adjutant and training officer roles. Ian returned to 222 in August 2002 as training officer and took command August 2003.

Phil was commissioned in 2004 after serving as a Civilian Committee member. An ex-cadet with 231 (Norwich) Sqn - Phil has two sons who were both cadets with our squadron.

Mark joined 222 in November 2007, after serving as a cadet for six years with 231 (Norwich) Sqn. Amongst his achievements as a cadet, Mark took the Norfolk and Suffolk Wing Drill and Band teams to Region level.

After reaching the rank of Sergeant as a cadet with our squadron, Chris joined the Royal Air Force as a Regiment Gunner. After completing his service he joined 1249 (Dereham) Sqn before eventually returning as a C.I to 222 Sqn with valued knowledge in 2005. Chris has now moved into uniform as a Sergeant and will remain with 222 Sqn.

Neil completed his cadet service reaching the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer in 2000. On his return in 2005, Neil redesigned the Squadron Crest which his brother originally created back in 1986.

Elton is currently a Cadet Gliding Instructor with 611 VGS. Serving as a cadet with 222 Sqn for six years he became a Civilian Instructor with the squadron in 2004.

Civilian Instructor Bill Newby Grant

A formal Naval Officer, Bill joined us in May 2007 after seeing the squadron at a local recruitment drive. His vast experience is an asset to the squadron. Bill's father was an officer with 120 (Hendon) Squadron.

Civilian Instructor Adam Grzeskowiak
Flying & Gliding

Adam joined the Army as a Medic after serving with 55 Sqn ATC (Woodford & Bramhall) reaching the rank of FS. He successfully applied for aircrew selection and was awarded his wings in 1996. Posted to 654 Sqn AAC at Wattisham flying Gazelle helicopters in the reconnaissance/anti tank role, during this period he undertook numerous worldwide detachments. Selected for instructor training, Adam was posted to Middle Wallop to teach all aspects of Army Flying.  Adam Retired after 22 Years service and now flies in support of the offshore gas industry. “I recognise what a great help the ATC was in helping me achieve my career in aviation, and would like to pass on some of the knowledge gained.”

Like her older brother Chris; Lynda was a Cadet with our squadron back in the Nineties. Lynda joined once more as a Civilian Instructor in October 2007.

Kezia joined 222 in September 2007, taking an administration and welfare role.

Civilian Instructor Nick Nicholls
Communications Officer

Nick joined the RAF initially as an aircraft technician and worked on the Lightning, Hunter, Argosy, VC10 and Belfast aircraft. He was selected for Aircrew training as an Air Engineer and, after graduation, converted to the Hercules C130's. He served 2 tours on No. 30 Sqn and then became an instructor on No. 242 OCU. At the end of his 22 year engagement he moved to civil aviation and operated Boeing 747-200's, -300's and the Lockheed L1011 Tri-Star for a Hong Kong based airline. He also held the post of Fleet Technical Officer for the introduction of the Boeing 777 to the airline's inventory. Having retired to Coltishall, Nick would like to share his aviation knowledge and experience with the next generation of aviators.

Mark has been serving in the RAF as an Avionics Technician since 1997 after reaching the rank of FS with 231 (Norwich) Sqn. Mark is currently working on Tornado GR4 aircraft but has previously worked on Harrier, Puma and Chinook. During his career Mark has also worked outside of the aircraft environment giving him a wider experience of the RAF trades. During the last 12 years Mark has travelled to many parts of the world including America, Norway and the Czech Republic. Joining 222 Squadron in July 2007, Mark's experiences within the Royal Air Force are an inspiration to cadets providing them with practical experience of what service life has to offer.
